Alfonso Montemayor (born April 28, 1922 - November 23, 2012 ), also known by the nickname El Capi (the boss), was a Mexican football player on the position of full-back .

biography

society

Montemayor played the first ten years of Club León's membership of the Primera División for this club, with which he won three championship titles in 1948, 1949 and 1952. Because his capabilities at the age of 32 may no longer fully meet the requirements of the first division, but he also did not want to retire completely from his active career as a footballer, he went to the second division San Sebastián for the 1954/55 season , who also played in City of León and with which he succeeded at the end of the season (and thus at the end of his career) the promotion to the Primera División.

He remembers his last season at San Sebastián with a grin: "It was funny to suddenly play in front of so few spectators after I had always played in front of full houses."

National team

His debut in the Mexican national team was Montemayor on July 13, 1947 in a game against arch rivals USA, which was won 5-0. His last international match was on April 20, 1952 in a 3-0 draw against Peru.

In between he was part of the Mexican World Cup squad in 1950 and was used in the 4-0 opening defeat against hosts Brazil.
