history

Layout

Heimser Church was built at the beginning of the 12th century. The church tower was built in 1205. While three sides of the tower were erected freely, the fourth side was placed on the west wall of the church.

The church was badly devastated during the Thirty Years War . The stalls were burned. The pews that were newly built in 1664 are still in use today.

Furnishing

At the main entrance there is an arched field above the door from the time the church was built. The original interior ceiling was made of simple woods. The late Gothic groin vault , drawn in around 1510, turned out to be too heavy. In order to prevent the church from falling apart, external support pillars had to be installed.
