The Evangelical Lutheran Church Ottendorf-Okrilla is part of the church district Dresden-Nord of the diocese Dresden the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxony .

Location

The church is in the Ottendorf district , on the western edge of the town center. There it is located near the state road 177 between Kirchgasse and Kirchstrasse. The Catholic Church of St. Joseph the Worker is only a few 100 meters to the east .

history

The oldest written mention of Ottendorf comes from the year 1346. The first pastor, Peter Pistorius, was mentioned in 1430. In 1539 the Reformation was introduced in Ottendorf. The first Protestant pastor was Peter Steinknecht.

Old church from 1610

The church, newly built in 1610, burned down on the night of July 12th to 13th, 1873 after a lightning strike. The current church was built in a year and a half and consecrated on November 16, 1875. A renovation of the church was completed in 1995. Between 1998 and 2000 the former side buildings were demolished and a new, large community center was built in their place.

In July 2002 the parishes of Weixdorf, Langebrück, Medingen-Großdittmannsdorf and Ottendorf-Okrilla merged to form a sister church.

Furnishing

The altar is from 1875 and has the following inscription: "See that is the Lamb of God who bears the sin of the world." This Bible verse comes from the Gospel of John , chapter 1, verse 29.

pulpit

The pulpit also dates from 1875.

The organ was manufactured in 1875 by the Großenhain company, Gebr. Nagel . The pipes were expanded during the wars. In 1983 the Bautzen company Eule built the system.

Bells

A three-part chill-cast iron chime with the sound of a G-Te Deum hangs on low cranked yokes in the bell chamber.

Community center

Community center

The Evangelical Community Center Ottendorf-Okrilla was built from 1998 to 2000 in place of two old outbuildings. It includes community rooms and the Christian kindergarten Schwalbennest on the upper floor . The community rooms can be rented when they are not in use.
