St. Joseph the Worker (Ottendorf-Okrilla)

The branch church of St.Joseph der Werkmann is a Roman Catholic church in Ottendorf-Okrilla . It belongs to the parish of St. Laurentius in Radeberg in the diocese of Dresden-Meißen .

Building history

In 1947 a local chaplaincy of the Königsbrücker Kreuzerhöhungskirche was created in Ottendorf-Okrilla . The current branch church was consecrated as a parish church on May 10, 1959 by Bishop Otto Spülbeck . Today's house of worship emerged from the barn of a former three-sided courtyard . This origin can still be seen.

The construction was mainly carried out by parishioners. The architect was Egon Körner from Dresden . The tower was built from stones from the Franziskus Xaverius Church in Dresden-Neustadt , which was destroyed in February 1945 .

In 2004, the interior space was reduced to make room for a community room with a kitchen and toilet. After that the church has 50 seats.
