Evangelical Church Roxheim

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Evangelical Church in Roxheim in the Bad Kreuznach district in Rhineland-Palatinate belongs to the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland .

history

It was first mentioned in a document from 1225, but it is probably older. The Romanesque east tower, a choir tower , dates from the 13th century. A first evangelical pastor probably worked from 1566, which the Counter-Reformation did not change either. The listed rectory behind the church was built in 1736 as part of the renovation of the nave (1738). Some columns of the old choir vault are still preserved.

Due to the Peace of Rijswijk , the Evangelical Church was a simultaneous church used by both denominations until 1869 . Another extensive renovation and modernization (electric bell system) took place in the 1970s.
