The event-theater is a free theater in Brandenburg an der Havel .

Under the direction of the director and actor Hank Teufer , the event-theater runs two projects: In 2001 the Brandenburg Monastery Summer was founded with venues that vary across the city. In 2003, the Fontane-Klub socio-cultural center, which had been established in Brandenburg an der Havel for four decades, was taken over as its own operator. In addition, the event theater organizes the Brandenburg Christmas stage.

history

The event theater was founded on November 11, 2000. At the end of the nineties of the 20th century, a thinning process in the Brandenburg theater world for which state politics were responsible led, among other things, to the loss of the ensemble and spoken theater at the Brandenburg theater . As a result, there was a deficit in the cultural supply of the population, to which Hank Teufer responded with the initiative to found the first independent theater in Brandenburg an der Havel. The rapid success of the small stage was soon reflected in its mention in the guideline for cultural tourism in Brandenburg.

Seat

The seat of the event theater, two of its venues and the program cinema operated by the event theater are located in Spitta's house.

The event theater is located in the Spitta'sches Haus monument at Ritterstrasse 69, directly on the Havel . Later known under the name Havelterrassen, the building, which forms a distinctive entrance to the old town of Brandenburg from the Millennium Bridge, was used by the Kulturbund der DDR , which operated the Fontane Club as one of the most important socio-cultural centers in the city of Brandenburg an der Havel.

Venues

In addition to the two cabaret stages (Gelber Salon and Havelzimmer) at its headquarters, the event theater opens up and plays on various venues in Brandenburg an der Havel. Sponsorship

The event theater is sponsored by the non-profit association event-theater e. V. operated. This was founded with 40 members to promote cultural life in a time of massive upheaval in the socio-cultural and theater landscapes. The association is regularly involved in quality control and is a member of the Brandenburg State Working Group on Socioculture and the Association of Independent Theaters of the State of Brandenburg.

Fontane Club

In the tradition of a community center, associations use the Fontane Club as a conference and work place. In addition, the Fontane club operates a cinema , which has been awarded since 2012. Each year the cinema price of the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH. The event theater also plays on the two cabaret stages of the Fontane Club. A restaurant, bar and bookstore in the building are privately operated.

With the Brandenburger Klostersommer , the event-theater operates a cultural festival of supraregional importance and reach. Guest performances have taken the ensemble to Italy , Austria and Poland . Furthermore, the event theater established a format under the name Brandenburger Christmas Stage, with which theater and cabaret are offered in conjunction with a Christmas buffet in the run-up to Christmas.

Famous actors

In 2005 Eva Maria Hagen was a guest at the event theater. In the following year Dietmar Wischmeyer played at the Brandenburg Industrial Museum on the Havel at the invitation of the event theater . In 2007 Max Goldt and Irina von Bentheim and in 2008 Rainald Grebe accepted an invitation from the event-theater.

Awards

For its commitment in the field of cultural tourism, the event-theater received the Brandenburg Tourism Prize for the Brandenburg Klostersommer Festival in 2002, the Brandenburg City Tourism Prize in 2010 and the Brandenburg Tourism Quality Seal in 2003 and 2006. In the context of the Brandenburg Tourism Prize 2009 competition for innovative services and marketing, the Brandenburg Monastery Summer project was nominated for the Brandenburg State Tourism Prize 2009 by the Brandenburg Ministry of Economics. In 2014 the event theater received the award "Recommended by the BUGA".

In 2015 the event theater was awarded level I by the ServiceQualität Deutschland initiative. The arthouse cinema in the socio-cultural center Fontane-Klub also enjoys a special reputation . This arthouse cinema is awarded annually by the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg .
