Ewa Wanat (* 1962 in Poznan ) is a Polish journalist . From 2003 to 2012 she was editor-in-chief of the Polish talk channel Radio Tok FM .

life and career

Ewa Wanat is the daughter of actors Kaja Nogajówna and Włodzimierz Saar. After three failed entrance exams at various theater universities, she decided in 1981 to study polonistics at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan , where she was involved in the Solidarność movement. In the 1980s she lived in Munich and earned her living doing odd jobs.

After the collapse of communism in the Eastern Bloc, she returned to Poland. With a friend she founded the first independent “Radio S Poznań” in Poznań. Later she also worked for the Catholic Radio Plus. In 2003, Wanat won the tender for the position of editor-in-chief at TOK FM in Warsaw, the right-wing and Catholic parties, such as B. Law and Justice (PiS) and League of Polish Families (LPR) was often criticized. Wanat describes her political orientation as "liberal-libertarian-social-anarchist with a little bit of Christian mysticism".

With the team from Radio TOK FM, Wanat was nominated three times for the Dariusz Fikus Prize in the “Media Workers” category. She received the Polish “Hyacinth 2010” award for “courageous journalism open to social problems”.
