Ewald Gerrich

Ewald Gerrich (born June 4, 1901 in Berlin , † March 16, 1985 in Braunschweig ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Gerrich first attended elementary school, then switched to the advanced training school and the trade union business school. He attended the School of Politics and took up a professional activity as a locksmith, technical employee, building craftsman and most recently as a managing director. Gerrich had been a member of the IG Metall trade union since 1918 . At the age of fifteen he became a member of the Socialist Workers' Youth and later joined the SPD as a member.

Gerrich was elected a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament in the fifth and sixth electoral terms between 1963 and June 20, 1970. The Landtag elected him a member of the first Federal Assembly , which elected Theodor Heuss as Federal President in 1949 .
