Otto Gellersen

Otto Gellersen (born January 29, 1925 in Gödenstorf , Harburg district , † July 3, 2012 in Salzhausen ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Life

After attending elementary school in Salzhausen, Gellersen began an apprenticeship as a painter. He passed the journeyman's examination and then attended the private business school in Hamburg-Harburg . He began his military service until the end of the Second World War . Between 1947 and 1949 he attended the master school for painters in Hamburg and successfully passed the master's examination. In 1952 he became the owner of his father's painting business.

Gellersen became a member of the CDU in 1962. He took on various honorary positions in craft and sports organizations. Until 1979 he was chairman of the district sports association. He was also a member of the association committee, Zweckverband Stade, Überlandwerk Nordhannover, and second chairman of the health care association in Salzhausen.

Public offices

From 1961 to 1972 he was councilor of the Salzhausen community. Here he was elected mayor in 1966. Between 1972 and 1986 he was councilor and mayor of the Salzhausen municipality . In 1964 he was also a member of the district council and from 1973 district administrator of the Harburg district.

Gellersen was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament during the eighth to eleventh electoral terms from June 21, 1974 to June 20, 1990.

Honors

Otto Gellersen was awarded the Cross of Merit on Ribbon and in 1995 the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany .
