Ewald Muther
Ewald Muther (* 1934 ) is a musician and composer from the Swiss canton of Valais .
In his youth he worked in his grandparents' farm in the Simplon region. During his school days he was a member of the Saflisch , Termen music association , where he played saxophone , trombone and bass . In 1956 he began studying veterinary medicine at the Universities of Bern and Freiburg, from which he graduated with a doctorate. He then ran a practice for large and small animals in Visp .
His musical interest was mainly church music. He was a member of the Ried-Brig church choir, first as a singer and later as an organist and conductor. In 1963 he composed Zer Tafernu , his first choral song. Other songs for solo, duet, trio, quartet and mixed male choir followed. Most of the texts in Valais and Swiss German for his compositions were written by himself. In 2000 a yodelling mass composed by him was premiered. Ewald Muther conducted various yodelling clubs in his career and played the double bass in the Tafernabüobu country band .
