Ewald Sacher

Ewald Sacher (born August 3, 1949 in Krems an der Donau ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and was a member of the Austrian National Council . He is widowed and the father of two daughters and a grandfather of four.

education and profession

In 1968, Sacher ended his school career in Krems. Then he worked as a commercial clerk. In 1972 he studied teaching at the Pedagogical Academy. He completed this with a teaching examination for elementary school and then for secondary school. Between 1972 and 1976 he taught at the elementary school in Krems. From 1976 and 1980 he was a secondary school teacher in Krems. After that he was the director of the Krems-Lerchenfeld elementary school until 1993.

In May 2004 he was elected President at the general assembly of Volkshilfe Niederösterreich in Wiener Neustadt. He is thus the longest serving President of Volkshilfe Niederösterreich.

In May 2019 he was elected President of Volkshilfe Austria as the successor to Barbara Gross at the Federal Conference of Volkshilfe Österreich .

Political career

1979 Sacher became the city party leader of the SPÖ in Krems. In 1981 he was a local councilor and in 1982 a councilor in Krems. From 1983 to 2000 he was the 2nd Vice Mayor of Krems. Sacher was a member of the Austrian Federal Council in 1993 and at the same time a member of the state parliament between 1993 and 2008 . In 1993 he was still the district chairman of the SPÖ in Krems. From 2003 to 2008 Sacher was the 2nd President of the State Parliament.

He was a member of the National Council from October 28, 2008 to October 28, 2013.
