Ewerd Ferber

Ewerd Ferber (* 1387 in Kalkar on the Lower Rhine ; † March 21, 1451 in Danzig , Polish-Prussia ) was a German long-distance trader , shipowner and ancestor of the influential Danzig patrician family Ferber .

Life

Ewerd Ferber settled in 1415 from Kalkar on the Lower Rhine with his half-brother Govel in Danzig. In 1527 he received the house in the Brotbänkengasse 16 (later Englisches Haus ) from the father of his second wife after the wedding .

The half-brothers worked as long-distance traders. They owned ship shares and were co-owners. The purchase of a kreier and a trade process are attested from Sweden . In 1443 Ewerd Ferber from Kalkar had his birth letter confirmed for the council of the city of Danzig.

In 1448 Ferber bought the Trinity Chapel in St. Mary's Church from his third wife's family , which later became the family's burial place (Ferber Chapel).
