Ewiges Reich is a German black metal band from Kassel ( Hessen ) that was founded in 1999. The band plays raw, fast black metal with only German lyrics.

Band history

Ewiges Reich was founded in 1999 by guitarist SM, singer Maldoror and drummer FMH. The self-titled debut album was released in 2001 on Perverted Taste . It was followed by two very limited split - EPs with the German bands Jerusalem Est Perdita (also from Kassel) and dead Burg (Gera) and the album Awakenings (2003). The third work Thron aus Eis , published in 2003, was a bit more catchy. In 2011 the last work so far, Blood Storm, was published .

In addition to Ewiges Reich, the band members are also involved in numerous other bands. Ulfsdalir has a solo project of the same name, in which he is supported by drummer FMH and Malthökk. He has a solo project called Myrkwid and plays with Pestnebel. Guitarist SM also runs a solo project called Schattenheer . TW plays u. a. with bazooka and death consecration.

Relationship to right-wing extremism

The band is often said to have a right-wing extremist attitude. This is justified with the band name, ambiguous album titles and t-shirt prints such as Time of Awakening and Destroy the Enemy . All of this evokes associations with National Socialism . However, the band justifies itself by stating that the name is "another name for the afterlife, the eternal realm of shadows". The band also stated that "anyone who judges the political views of the band on the basis of a band name without ever asking further questions, [...] is not only stupid but also ignorant".

Another argument are the two split EPs with the bands Totenburg and Jerusolima Est Perdita, which can clearly be assigned to the right-wing extremist spectrum . The band denies any political background. Nevertheless, several band members are organized in appropriate bands in addition to Ewiges Reich and seek contact with the NSBM scene.
