Darker Than Black Records
Darker Than Black Records is a German metal label that specializes in NSBM .
history
The label was founded in 1994 by Hendrik Möbus to distribute the EP Thuringian Pagan Madness by the NSBM band Absurd . The label was created specifically for this release. However, this was never produced by DTB, but instead took place as a license release by Capricornus Prod, the label of the former Graveland drummer , for financial reasons . In 1996 DTB became a sub-label of Malicious Records; together they only realized the Silexater EP Bleeding Depth and separated again a year later.
In 1997 bands like Thor's Hammer and Abyssic Hate produced their debut albums. The label also organizes concerts like the Germanic Black Metal-Storm over Germany-Festival , in which bands like Nagelfar , Riger , Dunkelgrafen , Barad Dûr , Vilkates, Lugburz and Absurd took part.
In 1999 Darker Than Black released records by the bands Barad Dûr, Winterblut and Kristallnacht .
In October 1999, German authorities searched the label, which was suspected of promoting right-wing extremist bands. After Möbus' flight abroad, Shane Rout from Abyssic Hate was supposed to continue the label and also announced further releases on the label. However, it was decided to let the label rest. Between 2001 and 2002 other publications that were supposed to appear on the label were distributed via the "dummy label" Ancestral Research Records.
In 2007 the label announced that they wanted to produce albums again. The EP and the demo by Silexater were released in 2009 as a joint license press under the title Silexater on the Japanese label Wolfsgray.
