Abyssic Hate is a depressive black metal band from Australia , which was founded in 1993 and is considered part of the NSBM because of their ideology and their collaboration with people from the neo-Nazi spectrum .

Band history

Abyssic Hate was founded in 1993 by the Australian Shane Rout, who also played for bands such as Deströyer 666 , Blood Duster and Hecatomb. Brad Johnson was a guest musician on the debut release Cleansing of an Ancient Race in 1994, where he played electric guitar . The first three demo CDs achieved great popularity in the German underground scene.

The band was among others under contract with Darker Than Black Records , which was founded by Hendrik Möbus and his brother Ronald . There the EP Eternal Damnation was released . In addition to his own label Southern Cross, Rout continued Darker Than Black after Möbus' flight abroad and announced further releases on the label. However, it was decided to let the label rest.

The band is currently under contract with No Colors Records , which released the only album Suicidal Emotions to date in 2000 ; In the meantime the band had developed from a darkthrone- inspired sound to one inspired by Burzum's Filosofem . In 2006 a compilation was released that summarized the previous career. In 2017, The Source of Suffering , a new edition of Depression and Life Is a Pain in the Neck, was released .

A split release with Absurd , the band of the Möbus brothers, was announced for 2018 .

Texts and ideology

Lyrically, the pieces by Abyssic Hate deal with topics such as depression , suicide and misanthropy , which is why the group is classified as Depressive Black Metal . However, both publications showed the band as well as statements Routs their network presence from the outset an aesthetic and ideological proximity to neo-Nazism : The demo Cleansing of an Ancient Race (dt. Cleansing of an ancient race ) is on the cover of one of the imperial eagle ajar drawing in which the swastika was replaced by a Drudenfuß , a similar illustration was also used as the cover for the 2006 best-of compilation A Decade of Hate .

The EP Eternal Damnation , released in 1998, features The Victory Is Ours, a cover of the song Der Sieg ist Unser from the album Facta Loquuntur by the NSBM scene, Absurd; this also appeared on the compilation Tribute to Absurd by Silencelike Death Productions.

Rout's band side and the Dark Blaze / Into the Pentagram announced their planned participation in the 2003 NSBM compilation The Night and the Fog II - Hammer of National Socialist Black Metal by the right-wing extremist Pagan Front, to which the band belonged and to which his label Southern Cross was close , on which the band did not appear in the end. In 2003 he announced on his side that he would cover a song by the forbidden German right-wing rock band Landser on a planned EP .

After Hendrik Möbus was imprisoned again in 2007, Rout founded a campaign for his release because, according to his own admission, he owes Möbus his musical career.
