Ad Hominem ( Latin for "directed at people") is a French one-man project from Lyon , which belongs to the NSBM scene and has existed since 1998.

biography

The founder, who appears under the pseudonym "Kaiser Wodhanaz", was also active in bands such as Frangar and Antithesis and runs the Eradication project. Compared to the lyrics of other bands from the NSBM area, the lyrics of Ad Hominem are a lot clearer in their message.

Kaiser Wodhanaz is the only permanent member of the band, but is supported by guest musicians at concerts. He recorded the split EP Black Metal Against the World with the drummer Altar .3K6 from the band Crystalium instead of a drum computer, with which he later fell out and which he is said to have cheated out of his payment for the recording. Former live members include Dhilorz ( Ancient ) and Thorns (Kult, ex-Handful of Hate); the current live line-up consists of Kaiser W. on bass and vocals, Milite K. (Frangar) and Nacht on guitars and Rust on drums.

The band is one of the far-right wing of the black metal scene and has good contacts in Germany , especially with the Leuner label Undercover Records in Hesse , led by Alexander Tiebel , which released two split albums and the band's first album worked for the band organizing concerts in Germany. The band has given a total of four concerts in France, Germany and the Netherlands. In Germany she performed on February 28, 2004 in Diesdorf together with the right-wing extremist metal bands Absurd , Magog , Totenburg and the group Eternity.

The band's works are also published by right-wing extremist labels such as Wolf Division. In the meantime, however, the band was under contract with the Italian label Avantgarde Music , which is otherwise not involved in the NSBM scene. Climax of Hatred appeared there in 2005 . Kaizer Wodhanaz said they would not have signed Ad Hominem if they were anti-fascists.

In 2009 Darker Than Black Records released the album Dictator - A Monument of Glory in cooperation with Elegy Records . In 2013 the EP Slaves of God to the Gallows (The Preemptive Strike 0.1 Reworks) followed with remixes of PreEmptive Strike 0.1 on StaalPakt, in 2015 the album Antitheist on Osmose Productions .

The current logo is martial and shows an iron cross decorated with cartridges and an inverted Elhaz rune with the typical stylized lettering in the foreground. The band name is often abbreviated as AH, which corresponds to the initials of Adolf Hitler .

ideology

The texts of the project obviously contain right-wing extremist ideas, anti-Semitic annihilation mania and conspiracy theories . So z. B. in the song Auschwitz Rules , from the debut album Planet ZOG, glorifies industrial mass extermination during the Nazi era:

“We'll raise our weapons and you will return to the past
The proof of your decay, Auschwitz didn't go away […]
Auschwitz rules over the torah
Auschwitz rules over the coran
Auschwitz rules over the bible
Auschwitz rules over you bastards”

- Ad Hominem : Auschwitz Rules

The texts were not printed in the booklet in the German version, which was distributed via Undercover Records. There the titles are not given in full, so that from “Auschwitz Rules” then “A. Rules "became. Emperor Wodhanaz said in an interview that world Jewry was to blame. The second album A New Race for a New World also affected this, the album was renamed for the German market in ... for a New World .

Emperor Wodhanaz claims to be misanthropic and apolitical and does not assign the band to the NSBM, but glorifies the time of National Socialism and shows in interviews a worldview that is clearly marked by racism and anti-Semitism and a sexist attitude. When asked what he thinks about women, he replied in an interview that he sees them as pure objects of pleasure and that women will never be equal to men.
