history

The company was founded in 1984 by Eduard Hagens, Rinus Dekker, Arco van Nieuwland, Paul van Keep, Paul Fijling and Leo Schonkin in the Dutch city of Delft. At this time, small and medium-sized companies developed an increased need for flexible and cost-efficient Enterprise Resource Planning solutions. Since then, Exact has expanded its international network by setting up its own 40 branches and serves more than 100,000 customers in 125 countries worldwide.

Erik van der Meijden has been the company's CEO since April 2012.

In October 2014 it was announced that Apax Partners intends to take over the company. The € 730 million acquisition was completed in April 2015. The takeover was accompanied by delisting from the Euronext stock exchange , on which the company had been listed since 1999.
