Exclusive records
Exclusive Records was an American record label of rhythm and blues , which existed from 1944 to 1949.
The label Exclusive Records , based in Los Angeles, was one of the ventures of the songwriter and music producer Leon René (1902-1982), which he partially led with his brother Otis René (1898-1970), the owner of Excelsior Records . Leon had worked for Decca Records in the 1930s ; in the early 1940s, the René brothers owned the Ammor and Make Believe Ballroom labels .
The label's first release was "Mexico Joe" by Ivie Anderson ; on Exclusive appeared to 1949 recordings of Ernie Andrews , Buddy Baker , Basin Street Boys , Clifford Blivens , Charles Brown , Red Callender , Vivian Garry , Edgar Hayes , Smokey Hogg , Herb Jeffries , Joe Liggins , Big Jay McNeely , Jack McVea , Johnny Moore , Mabel Scott , Frantic Fay Thomas and Frances Wayne . In January 1950 the company went bankrupt and ceased operations.
