Exene Cervenka (* 1. February 1956 in Chicago , Illinois as Christine Červenková ) is an American musician and writer. She sang in the westcoast punk band X .

Life

Christine Cervenka grew up in Tallahassee , Florida and moved to Santa Monica in 1976 . With the musician John Doe , whom she met at the renowned Venice Poetry Workshop in Beyond Baroque, and with Billy Zoom and DJ Bonebrake, Exene Cervenka founded X in 1977 . Exene and John Doe, who married in 1980, wrote the group's songs such as Johny Hit and Run Paulene , Sex and Dying in High Society , Los Angeles , We're Desperate , The Once-over Twice In this House That I Call Home , The Big Wolf , The Have-Nots or White Girl .

Her marriage to John Doe divorced in 1985. In 1987 she married the actor Viggo Mortensen for the second time . The couple separated in 1992 and divorced in 1997. Cervenka and Mortensen have a son.
