The knitters
The Knitters are a US-based music group from Los Angeles that country , rockabilly and folk music playing.
Band history
The Knitters originated in 1982 as a side project of the musicians Exene Cervenka (vocals), John Doe (bass, vocals) and DJ Bonebrake (drums) from punk rock band X , Dave Alvin (guitar) from The Blasters and The Flesh Eaters and Jonny Ray Bartel (Double bass) from the blues rock band The Red Devils .
Her debut album Poor Little Critter on the Road was released in 1985. In addition to traditionals and cover versions , the album contained some of the band X's tracks in acoustic versions . In 1999 Bloodshot Records released a tribute album called Poor Little Knitter on the Road .
After that, the musicians concentrated again on working with their actual bands. In 2005, twenty years after their debut, they released their second album, The Modern Sounds of the Knitters .
