The Blasters is a 1979 in Downey , California , by brothers Phil Alvin (vocals and guitar) and Dave Alvin (guitar) with bassist John Bazz and drummer Bill Bateman founded rock band .

Saxophone legend Lee Allen supported the band on two albums. Steve Berlin (saxophone) and Gene Taylor (piano) joined them for a short time; Soon after, Berlin switched to the befriended band Los Lobos . Dave Alvin left the band in 1986 for a critically acclaimed solo career.

The first album was released on the Rollin 'Rock label and was therefore clearly in the rockabilly style.

The track Marie, Marie was successfully covered by Shakin 'Stevens .

In the film Streets in Flames by Walter Hill with the soundtrack by Ry Cooder , The Blasters played the band in a pub of a motorcycle gang. Her title Dark Night was heard in the film From Dusk Till Dawn .
