Exotica terrarium exchange

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Exotica is up to 6,000 visitors, the largest Terraristikbörse in Austria . At this fair, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates are exhibited and offered for sale. In addition to the animals, plants, terrariums, terrarium accessories and books can also be purchased. Poisonous snakes, crocodiles and other armored lizards and chameleons may not be offered on these exchanges due to the current animal protection law in Austria.

The organizer of the exchange, which is held at several locations, was Alexander Dobernig until 2007 and EXOTICA Veranstaltungen GmbH (GF: Dobernig Alexander) from 2008.

history

The Exotica reptile exchange opened its doors to visitors for the first time in the spring of 1997. This was at Casino Baumgarten, Linzerstraße 297, 1140 Vienna.

After a short time this venue was too small for the number of visitors and exhibitors and the venue was relocated to the Liesing House of Encounter. In 2002 this event location became too small, and since no suitable event location could be found in Vienna, the first EXOTICA was held in the VAZ St. Pölten in spring 2002.

St. Pölten is thus the long-running (2002 to currently (2014)) and de facto headquarters of the event.

Due to the great success of the event, the management of Arena Nova Wr. Neustadt 2003 approached the operators as to whether EXOTICA could not be held as part of the pet fair HAUSTIER AKTUELL, newly founded by ARENA NOVA. Since then, EXOTICA has taken place every year, with one exception in the year 201X, as part of Pet News.

Due to great demand, an event location in Upper Austria was also sought and found in Ried im Innkreis. After several years in Ried, EXOTICA was expanded to include the aquarium, dog, and cat exhibition areas in 2013 and relocated to the Wels trade fair, where it is part of the Wels domestic animal trade fair (run by the same organizer).

From 2007 to 2010 EXOTICA was also held at the Vienna Pet Fair. After political problems this was no longer possible from 2011. The reptile exchange had to be carried out at a separate location from the pet fair. The MGC Halle, Modecenterstraße 22, 1030 Vienna was found as the new location.

From 2008 EXOTICA Veranstaltungen GmbH (GF: Dobernig Alexander) has been the organizer of the fair.
