history

Exsila was founded by Rouven Küng and Reto Bütler.

The exchange went online in the summer of 2006. Exsila GmbH was founded as operator in the same year , which was converted into a stock corporation in 2007 .

In spring 2008, the German platform exsila.de was launched, which was discontinued at the end of 2014 due to a lack of activity.

In 2010 the service was used by more than 80,000 registered users. A total of over 500,000 items are available for exchange .

From May 2011, it was also possible to sell in Swiss francs , which led to a serious drop in point values. The exchange or sales fee has been increased to 6%. On July 21, 2011 a reduction to 5% was announced. At the same time, the sales fee was also charged when using Exsila points in Swiss francs. The last change in particular was discussed controversially by the Exsilan users. There was even a petition against this project, but it did not find enough supporters.

Since January 2012, toys and cell phones can also be exchanged on Exsila.

In September 2015, Exsila announced that it would return to Exsila points and stop trading in Swiss francs. The exchange fee is now 8%, 50% in points and 50% in Swiss francs.

An app for Android was released in June 2016 .
