Extraction meal

The extraction meal as a form of oil meal is created as a by- product in the production of vegetable oils by hot pressing or extraction processes . The extraction agent residues are removed using steam. Its use as feed in animal nutrition is widespread.

Extraction meal is relatively rich in protein (around 40 percent) and, since the oil as the main product has been largely removed from the starting material ( oil seeds or oil fruits ), it contains little fat. The protein content is increased by using peeled (peeled) goods, while the crude fiber content decreases . Because of the high protein content, extraction meal (especially soy extraction meal and rapeseed extraction meal ) is often used as a supplementary feed and is therefore an alternative to the feeding of legumes or animal meal in animal nutrition.
