In addition to the Cauberg and Keutenberg , the Eyserbosweg is one of the most famous climbs in the region. He is in the final of the Amstel Gold Race , a semi - classic one - day race in April. It is around 20 kilometers from the finish of the race, which is located on the Cauberg. The Eyserbosweg gained particular fame and importance through Michael Boogerd , who launched his attacks there every year during his career in the Amstel Gold Race.

After about 600 relatively flat meters, the steep section begins at the edge of the forest with a gradient of well over 10%.

In addition to the Amstel Gold Race, the Eyserbosweg is also regularly used in the one-day race Hel van het Mergelland and in the Limburg stages of the Benelux Tour , the Ster Elektrotoer and the Olympia's Tour .

In 2006 the third stage of the Tour de France led through Eys. Because of the lack of width, crossing the Eyserbosweg seemed too dangerous for the organizers of the Tour de France, so the less well-known Eyserweg was used instead .
