Ezequiel Martínez Estrada

Ezequiel Martínez Estrada (born September 14, 1895 in San José de la Esqina , Santa Fe Province , † November 4, 1964 in Bahía Blanca , Buenos Aires Province ) was an Argentine writer.

Life

In 1915 Martínez Estrada got a job at the main post office in Buenos Aires ( Correo Central ) and began his first literary attempts at this time. In 1923 he was entrusted with a teaching position for literature at the Colegio Nacional in La Plata .

When General Juan Perón was elected President of Argentina in early 1946 , Martínez Estrada resigned from university in protest. He also gave up his job at the post office - now in the office of administrative director - and retired to a farm near Bahía Blanca.

At the instigation of the Mexican President Adolfo López Mateos , Martínez Estrada accepted a professorship for political science in Mexico City in 1960 . From there he went to Havana ( Cuba ) as director of the Centro Estudios Latinoamericanos the following year . In the fall of 1963 he also gave up this post and returned to his home country Bahía Blanca. Martínez Estrada died seven weeks after his 69th birthday on November 4, 1964 in Bahía Blanca, where he found his final resting place.
