Corinne Boyd Riley (born July 4, 1893 in Piedmont , Greenville County , South Carolina , †  April 12, 1979 in Sumter , South Carolina) was an American politician . Between 1962 and 1963 she represented the state of South Carolina in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Corinne Riley attended the public schools in her home country and then until 1915 the Converse College in Spartanburg . In the following years she worked as a teacher. Between 1938 and 1942, she served in the field for the South Carolina State Textbook Commission. During the Second World War , between 1942 and 1944, she worked in the personnel administration of an air force base in Sumter.

She was married to Congressman John Jacob Riley . After his death, Corinne Riley was elected to Congress as his successor in 1962 . There it ended the legislative period that had begun between April 10, 1962 and January 3, 1963. Like her husband, she was a member of the Democratic Party .

In the regular congressional elections of 1962, Corinne Riley no longer ran. In the following years she withdrew from politics. She died in Sumter on April 12, 1979.
