Wilson Nesbitt

Wilson T. Nesbitt (born 1781 in Spartanburg , South Carolina , † May 13, 1861 in Montgomery , Alabama ) was an American politician . Between 1817 and 1819 he represented the state of South Carolina in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Wilson Nesbitt attended the public schools of his home country and studied in 1805 and 1806 at South Carolina College in Columbia , which later became the University of South Carolina . He then worked in agriculture. He also ran an iron foundry.

Politically, Nesbitt became a member of the Democratic Republican Party . Between 1810 and 1814 he was a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives . In the congressional elections of 1816 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the eighth constituency of South Carolina , where he succeeded Thomas Moore on March 4, 1817 . Until March 3, 1819, he had only one term in Congress .

He later moved to Alabama, where he spent the rest of his life. Wilson Nesbitt is no longer politically active. He died in Montgomery on May 13, 1861.
