Samuel W. Trotti

Samuel Wilds Trotti (born July 18, 1810 in Barnwell , Barnwell County , South Carolina , †  June 24, 1856 in Buckhead , South Carolina) was an American politician . Between 1842 and 1843 he represented the state of South Carolina in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Samuel Trotti attended the public schools in his home country and then studied until 1832 at South Carolina College , now the University of South Carolina in Columbia . After studying law and being admitted to the bar, he began to work in his new profession. Samuel Trotti also took part in the Seminole War.

Politically, Trotti was a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1840 and 1841 and again from 1852 to 1855 he sat as a member of the House of Representatives from South Carolina . After the resignation of Congressman Sampson H. Butler in 1842, Trotti was elected as his successor to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the necessary by-election in the first constituency of South Carolina . There he took up his new mandate on December 17, 1842. By March 3, 1843, he ended the current legislative period of his predecessor. The next day, James A. Black, who was elected in the regular congressional elections, succeeded him.

In the following years until his death on June 24, 1856, Samuel Trotti worked again as a lawyer.
