James O'Hanlon Patterson

James O'Hanlon Patterson (born June 25, 1857 in Barnwell , Barnwell County , South Carolina , † October 25, 1911 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1905 and 1911 he represented the state of South Carolina in the US House of Representatives .

Career

James Patterson has been in private schools in his hometown of Barnwell and Augusta ( Georgia educated). After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1886, he began to work in Barnwell in his new profession. Between 1888 and 1892 Patterson was a probate judge in Barnwell County.

Politically, Patterson joined the Democratic Party . Between 1899 and 1904 he was a member of the House of Representatives from South Carolina . In the congressional elections of 1904 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the second constituency of South Carolina , where he succeeded Theodore G. Croft on March 4, 1905 . After two re-elections Patterson was able to complete three consecutive terms in Congress by March 3, 1911 .

After his time in the US House of Representatives, James Patterson worked as a lawyer again. He died just a few months after leaving Congress on October 25, 1911 and was buried in Barnwell, where he lived.
