W. Turner Logan

William Turner Logan (born June 21, 1874 in Summerville , Dorchester County , South Carolina , †  September 15, 1941 in Charleston , South Carolina) was an American politician . Between 1921 and 1925 he represented the state of South Carolina in the US House of Representatives .

Career

W. Turner Logan attended the public schools of his home country and then until 1895 the College of Charleston . After studying law at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and being admitted to the bar, he began working in his new profession in Charleston. Logan became a member of the Democratic Party and was a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1901 to 1904 . Between 1914 and 1918 he served as an economic advisor ( Corporation Counsel ) to the City of Charleston. Logan was Chairman of the Democrats in Charleston County from 1916 to 1918 . He then held this position in the city of Charleston.

In the 1920 congressional election, Logan was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the first constituency of South Carolina . There he took over from Richard S. Whaley on March 4, 1921 . After re-election in 1922, he was able to complete two terms in Congress until March 3, 1925 . For the elections of 1924 he was no longer nominated by his party for a further term. After that, Logan retired from politics. In the following years until his death in 1941 he worked again as a lawyer.
