Ezra Jenkinson
Ezra Jenkinson (* 1872 in Todmorden , England ; † 1947 there ) was an English composer and violinist . His best-known work, which is one of the classics of violin literature for beginners, is the dance of the elves .
Life
Very little is known about his life. According to the English author and artist William Holt, who was acquainted with him, Jenkinson spent seven years in Leipzig in his youth, thanks to a music scholarship made available to him by a patron. Then he returned to his hometown and from then on lived alone. He sold the rights to his works to the publisher Bosworth & Co . He avoided the public and did not appear in public.
