Ezzedine Salim
Ezzedine Salim ( Arabic عزّ الدين سليم, DMG 'Izz ad-Dīn Salīm ; * 1943 in Basra ; † May 17, 2004 in Baghdad ), also known as Abdelzahra Othman Mohammed , was President of the Iraqi Provisional Government Council from May 1, 2004 until his death .
Life
The Shiite Salim was the leader of the Islamic Dawa movement in the southern Iraqi city of Basra. He was a writer , philosopher , politician and editor of several newspapers and magazines.
He died in a bomb attack on his car convoy in Baghdad. He was the second member of the Iraqi Provisional Government Council to be killed in an attack. The Islamist organization Jamāʿat al-Tawhīd wa al-Jihād claimed responsibility for the attack .
