The Fábrica de Pirotecnia Militar de Sevilla (short name: Pirotecnia) is a historic factory in the Barrio de San Bernardo in Seville , the capital of the autonomous region of Andalusia .

The factory with an area of around 72,000 m² was built between 1847 and 1849 by the engineer Manuel Portillo Navarrete on behalf of the Spanish chemical company Francisco Cros for the production of ammunition. From 1910 fertilizers were also produced. Almost only women were employed in production. The scope of production included ammunition of all weapon calibers for pistols, rifles and cannons. In 1930 San Carlos Vasco-Andaluza SA took over the production.

The tower with a clock and a platform for guards was built in 1937. In 1940 a new central building was built by the architect Juan Talavera y Heredia . From 1961 the factory was owned by the state Empresa Nacional Santa Bárbara de Industrias Militares . As a result of the economic crisis after the death of General Francisco Franco , production was discontinued in the late 1970s.

After the expiry of the system, the mill has been completely renovated in the early 2000s and since 2008 has been the seat of the Faculty of Law of the Universidad de Sevilla , one of the largest public universities in Spain.
