Thy Disease is a Polish death , black and industrial metal band from Krakow that was formed in 1999.

history

The band was formed in 1999. A first demo appeared in December of the same year under the name Art of Decadence . The four songs on it were written by Dariusz "Yanuary" Styczeń. The sound carrier contained a cover version of Madonna's Frozen , which contained vocals by Anna Wojtkowiak from Centuria. In the same month the band also won second prize at the Metal Millenium Party metal contest in Krakow. In the following months, further appearances followed, among others together with Vader . In September 2000, the band recorded another demo that included the two songs Cursed and Crushing the Soul . After the group wrote more songs for a first album, they signed a contract with Metal Mind Productions for the release of three albums and went into the studio. In 2001 the debut album Devilish Act of Creation was released . The album again featured a Madonna cover, this time the song Ray of Light . The readers of the Polish Metal Hammer voted the band among the best Polish debutants. The group also achieved something similar in Mystic Art and Thrash 'Em All by reaching fifth and sixth place. In March 2002, the band played on Metalmania , which featured groups like Paradise Lost , Cannibal Corpse , Moonspell and Tiamat . In May 2002 the drummer Krystian "Pinocchio" Iwaszko left the band and was replaced by Maciej "Darkside" "Alizee666" Kowalski.

In September 2002 the second album Cold Skin Obsession followed . In the same time the band played in a Krakow TV studio together with Vader, Krisiun and Decapitated . The performance was recorded and released on DVD and VHS under the name Extreme Obsession Live . As a bonus, it also included unreleased songs from the first demo or Vader's cover Sothis . In the winter of 2003 and 2004 the group recorded their third album, Neurotic World Of Guilt , which was to be the last album on Metal Mind Productions. In October 2005, the band signed a contract with Empire Records , which in March 2006 released the fourth album Rat Age (Sworn Kinds Final Verses) . In the second half the band played appearances in France , Belgium , the Netherlands , the Czech Republic and the Ukraine . Thy Disease also went on tour through Poland and Russia . In 2007 the band went on another tour through Poland, in which Virgin Snatch , as well as other bands from Japan , Belarus , the Dominican Republic , the USA and Poland took part. In the middle of the year Rat Age (Sworn Kinds Final Verses) was released worldwide through Metal Mind Productions.

In 2008 work began on the next album. The decapitated guitarist Wacław "Vogg" Kiełtyka was present during the recordings. Rafał Brauer joined the cast later that year as session bassist. In 2009 the group reached a contract with Mystic Production for the release of three albums. In November 2009 the fifth album Anshur-Za was released . In early 2010 a two-week tour through Poland followed with Virgin Snatch and Armagedon . The last concert took place in Krakow and celebrated the 10th anniversary of the band. During another tour in the same year, the singer Michał "Psycho" Senajko was introduced by Sebastian "Sirius" Syroczyński, who had already worked with the band several times since 2005 by representing Senajko at that time. In April 2010, the album was released across Europe via Indie Recordings , before it was released in July in the USA and Canada via MVD . In the same year the band also played at various festivals, such as the Ukrainian Head Mission or the Castle Party in Bolków, Poland . In 2011 the line-up of the band changed again: Syroczyński was officially declared the new singer, the new keyboardist was Piotr “VX” Kopeć ( Atrophia Red Sun ), the new bassist Marcin “Novy” Nowak, and the new drummer Paweł “Paul “Jaroszewicz to the cast. In the new line-up, the band played several gigs in Poland and abroad, such as the Hard Rock Laager 2011 in Estonia , in which artists such as Napalm Death and Rotting Christ took part, as well as in Russia. In the summer of 2011 the group also went on another tour and played at various festivals and in several clubs. Another tour took place at the end of the year, which included concerts in Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova . In early 2012 they went on the Covan Wake the Fuck Up Tour to help Adrian "Covan" Kowanekthe, who was seriously injured in a car accident. In August 2012 the group went to the Creative Music Studio for a few months to record a new album. The line-up was again greatly changed for this. Nowak and Jaroszewicz left the band, for which the bassist and guitarist Artyom Serdyuk and the drummer Irek Gawlik came on. At the end of the year they went on another tour that extended into 2013. Meanwhile, the DVD Covan Wake the Fuck Up was released in December , which among other things contained excerpts from the concert in Krakow from the tour of the same name. At the beginning of 2013 a concert with Decapitated, Virgin Snach and Skeptic followed in Krakow, from which the entire proceeds went to Adrian “Covan” Kowanekthe and his families. In the months after that, further concerts followed in Poland, as well as in Hungary and Slovakia . In 2014 the next album Costumes of Technocracy was released via Mystic Production .

style

According to Martin Wickler from Metal Hammer, the band play Black Metal on Devilish Act of Creation , which is mostly in the mid-tempo range. The singing moves in both the high and the low range. According to Robert Müller from Metal Hammer , the group on Cold Skin Obsession is getting closer to bands like Behemoth and Vader. On the sound carrier there is a "brutal mixture of vehemently nailing Death Metal and purposefully interspersed atmospheric epic moments borrowed from the poison cabinet of Black Metal". Petra Schurer from Metal Hammer album could Anshur-Za classified stylistically as it Hardcore - shouts on Industrial - beats give, and the band in a song like a mixture of Samael and Morbid Angel sounded and shortly thereafter as Mnemic .
