Atrophia Red Sun is a Polish progressive death and industrial metal band from Krakow , which was founded in 1994, disbanded in 2005 and was re-formed that same year.
history
The band was founded in 1994 by keyboardist Piotr "VX The Mind Ripper" Kopeć. Other members around him were initially the singer Adrian “Covan” Kowanek ( Decapitated ), the guitarists Piotr “Pita” Stepkowski and Marcin “Bochaj” Bochajewski, the bassist Michał “Banan” Nasiadka and the drummer Paweł “Grzechotka” Węgrzyn. The debut album Painful Love… was released in 1995 via Croon Records , before the second followed in 1997 under the name Fears . In 1998 and 1999 the line-up changed several times when the group split up with both guitarists and their bassist. From 1999 Rafał "Kastor" Kastory (ex- Lux Occulta , Sceptic ) took over the electric guitar, while Paweł "Fafson" Kolasa (Sceptic) played the bass. Kolasa was again replaced in 2000 by Grzegorz "Felix" Feliks (Skeptic). In 2001 and 2002 the group recorded one demo each, before Milosz "Milo" Likowski joined the band as the new drummer in 2003. Then the album Twisted Logic was released that same year . So far the band had played with Cemetery of Scream , Crionics , Decapitated, Helloween , Lux Occulta, Neolith , Neolithic , Rage , Quo Vadis , Skeptic, Thy Disease , Trauma , Virgin Snatch and Vader , among others . She also performed at Metalmania in 2004 and also played at the Mystic Festival , where Iron Maiden , Kat , Helloween, Rage and Frontside also played. In April 2005 the band broke up before Piotr Kopeć re-formed them in November of the same year. The band released no further albums after that and played without a guitarist. Singer Kowanek left the band to join Decapitated. After the accident of the Decapitated tour bus in November 2007, in which the drummer Witold "Vitek" Kieltyka was killed and Kowanek himself was seriously injured, Kowanek was no longer able to work as a musician due to his serious injuries.
style
According to Vampster's Deviator , the band plays a complex mix of progressive death and industrial metal on Twisted Logic . The latter is mainly caused by the “clinical mixing” and the use of samples . The singing moves in all pitches. In addition, you can occasionally hear Thrash Metal influences. In the song Code Word (Personal) Cold World you can hear “screeching” that reminds of Black Metal .
