Crionics is a Polish black , death and industrial metal band from Krakow that was founded in 1997.

history

The band was founded in January 1997 and consisted of singer Michał "War-AN" Skotniczny, guitarist Dariusz "Yanuary" Styczeń, bassist Markus "Marcotic" Kopa and drummer Maciej "Carol" Zięba. A year after the band was formed, they recorded the first five songs, but they were never released. About six months later, they recorded the first official demo, Demo 98 , which consisted of four songs, including a cover version of the Emperor song I Am the Black Wizards . The first appearances followed and Wacław "Vac-V" Borowiec joined the line-up as keyboard player. In the second half of 1999 the guitarist Styczeń left the band and was replaced later that year by Bartosz "Bielmo" Bielewicz. Thereupon four new songs were recorded, which appeared in 2000 as EP Beyond the Blazing Horizon . Towards the end of the year, drummer Zięba left the line-up and was replaced a few months later by Maciej "Darkside" Kowalski. In August 2001, when the guitarist Bielewicz left, the next exit took place. In early 2002 the band held their next concerts before the band wrote new material and signed a contract with Empire Records at the end of the summer . The recordings for the debut album took place from August 12 to 23, 2002 in the Hertz Recording Studio . The album was released in November 2002 under the name Human Error (Ways to Selfdestruction) in the form of a bonus CD supplement to the sixth issue of Thrash'em All magazine . Shortly thereafter, the band went on tour with Behemoth , Darkane and Frontside . As a second guitarist, ex-member Styczeń helped out on the tour. In 2003 the band took part in Metalmania , Hellfest and Inferno Metal Festival Norway , among others . Towards the end of the year, the band also signed a contract for three albums with Candlelight Records , with releases within Poland still to be made via Empire Records. The album Human Error (Ways to Selfdestruction) was re-released via Candlelight Records in March 2004 , with the band covering Carpathian Forest as a bonus . In early 2004, the band began recording their next album, with the drum tracks being recorded in the Hertz Recording Studio in July, and the album being mixed and mastered, while all other recordings took place in the Lynx Studio . The album also featured a cover version of the Emperor song The Loss and Curse of Reverence . During the recording the band separated from their bassist Kopa. In October the band went on a tour that included 17 performances, which also included Vader , Lost Soul and Ceti . Shortly before the tour, Konrad “Destroyer” Ramotowski joined the band as bassist. The album Armageddon's Evolution was released in November 2004 in the fifth issue of Thrash'em All magazine . Another tour followed in February 2005 with Decapitated , Hate and Dies Irae . The band performed on their first European tour in Germany , Austria , the Netherlands , Switzerland and Italy, among others . Armageddon's Evolution was released across Europe on February 7th, while in the US it was released on February 8th.

In 2006 the band mainly wrote on their next album. Meanwhile, Styczeń came back to the band as a guitarist, where he also became the manager of the band. The album Neuthrone was recorded in November 2006 and January 2007 in two different studios: The drums were recorded in the Diamond Recording Studio , while all other instruments were recorded in the Zed Studio . The album was mixed and mastered by Tomasz "Zed" Zalewski . The album was released in July 2007 via Candlelight Records in Europe and the USA. Since the contract with Empire Records was not renewed, the album was released in Poland by Mystic Production . In May 2007 the band played ten gigs in Poland together with Hate, Darzamat and Sammath Naur . An appearance in Ukraine followed in August at the Red Alert Festival. This was followed by another tour with Krisiun , Rotting Christ and Incantation , on which they played in Scandinavia and in the countries on the Baltic Sea . In the second half of October the band went on their first tour of Russia together with Decapitated , before further appearances in Poland followed.

style

According to Allmusic's Alex Henderson, the band on Armageddon's Evolution play a mix of death and black metal. The vocals vary between deep growling and rough black metal singing. You can hear the influence of bands like Emperor and Dark Funeral on the album, but Crionics does not play in the same league. On Neuthrone the band, according to Pete Pardo of games seaoftranquility.org a mixture of industrial-, Black and Death Metal. You can hear influences from Behemoth, Vader, Fear Factory and Norwegian symphonic black metal bands on the album .
