Fédération Internationale des Sociétés de Philosophy

The Fédération Internationale des Sociétés de Philosophie (FISP) is the association of national philosophical societies founded in 1948. Its headquarters are in Freiburg im Üechtland (Switzerland). The member societies include the German Society for Philosophy , the Austrian , the Swiss or the Polish Philosophical Society . The president is elected for a term of office of five years. The current president is W. McBride (West Lafayette).

The FISP has organized the World Congress for Philosophy every five years since 1948 (until 1968: International Congress for Philosophy , Congrès International de Philosophy ). The first international congress of philosophy was organized in 1900 on the occasion of the world exhibition in Paris in 1900 by the French philosophers Louis Couturat and Xavier Léon. Until the FISP took it over in 1948, the congress took place irregularly.

The FISP has also organized the International Philosophy Olympiad every year since 1993
