From 1840 to 1847 he worked as an organist at the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral , where he was best known for his efforts to reform church music. In 1845 he founded the Revue de la musique religieuse, populaire et classique with François-Joseph Fétis , Stéphen Morelot and Jean-Joseph Bonaventure Laurens .
After study trips to France, Belgium and Germany, he became artistic director of the organ building company Daublaine-Callinet . In 1848 he withdrew from his musical activities and went first to Marseille, later to Montpellier, where he directed the magazine Messager du Midi .
Danjou composed church music works, including several masses, a Tantum Ergo, motets and organ works. As a result of his research in the Bibliothèque Royale , he published an extensive collection of texts on French history.
