The metro station Félix Faure is an underground station line 8 of the Paris Métro .
location
The station is located in the Quartier de Javel in the 15th arrondissement of Paris . It lies lengthways under the Avenue Félix Faure at its northeastern end.
Surname
The name gives the Avenue Félix Faure. Félix Faure (1841–1899) was a member of the National Assembly , minister and French president from 1895 until his death .
History and description
On July 27, 1937, the station went into operation when the section from La Motte-Picquet - Grenelle to Balard of line 8 was opened. On that day, the old route from La Motte-Picquet - Grenelle to Porte d'Auteuil was abandoned and this section of the route was assigned to line 10 .
The station is located under an elliptical , white tiled vault, the side walls of which follow the curvature of the ellipse. It was built from the beginning with a length of 105 m, sufficient for seven-car trains.
The three entrances are at the confluence of Avenue Félix Faure and Rue de'Église with Place Étienne-Pernet. They are marked by candelabra designed by Adolphe Dervaux in the Art Deco style with the word METRO.
vehicles
Despite the length of the platforms, only five-car trains were ever used, as five stations on line 8 are still only 75 m long. Trains of the Sprague-Thomson type ran until 1975 . In that year MF 67 trains came on the line, which were replaced from 1980 by the MF 77 series .
