Félix López

Félix López Kemp (Kiamp) (born May 2, 1917 in Puerto Plata , † September 18, 1969 in Santo Domingo ) was a Dominican songwriter.

The son of the trombonist Manuel López Betances had several siblings, of which Luis was active as a trumpeter and Carlos Manuel as a trombonist and conductor. He attended elementary and middle school in his hometown and began to write songs in his youth in which he opposed the Trujillo dictatorship . He lived in Santo Domingo since the late 1950s.

López became known with merengues like La miseria , Siña Juanica , María Engracia , El Tiririri and Fiesta en la joya . El Tiriri was recorded by Napoleón Zayas ' orchestra in 1950 , by Guillo Carías and his group 4 más 1 (with Cecilia García ) in the 1970s, and by Joseíto Mateo with Héctor de León's orchestra. Other interpreters of his songs included Vinicio Franco , Siña Juanica and Armando Beltré as well as Rico López .
