Federation (organizations)

The cooperation of organizations can take the form of a federation (from the Latin foedus , foedera : contract, pact), which is organized like a political federation : The organizations retain their independence and work together on an equal basis and largely autonomously in the achievement of common goals. The opposite of federalism is centralism . If a federation is an organization, it can also have the character of an umbrella organization .
