House Fördestraße 1 is a residential building from the 1920s, on the edge of the Flensburg-Mürwik base , which marks the beginning of Fördestraße and is one of the cultural monuments of Flensburg-Mürwik . In addition to the address in Fördestraße , the house also has the address Kelmstraße 2.

background

Between 1925 and 1928, residential buildings were built for officers and NCOs on Kelmstrasse and the Parkhof . The brick residential building at Fördestraße 1 was built in 1926/27 as part of the local naval settlement (Flensburg-Mürwik) by the non-profit company to create housing for members of the Reich in Berlin . At that time it had the address Twedterholz 1 cf. Twedter wood . The Murwiker road , then still officially Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße called, resulted in Twedterholz said road. In the same area begins Kelmstrasse, which was named in 1911 after Adalbert Kelm , the architect of the neighboring Mürwik Naval School , and on which the twin house is also located. Mürwiker Strasse only got its name after the Second World War . In 1961 the street Twedterholz was finally renamed Fördestraße, so that the corner house was given the address Fördestraße 1 and Kelmstraße 2 at the same time. Behind it is a small public park with some tall trees. Only behind this on the corner plot is the garden of house Fördestraße 1. On the gable ends of the house, terracotta panels with anchor reliefs and the year 1926 are set into the masonry. In front of the Fördestraße there is another ceramic plate on which a figure is depicted, possibly a mermaid . The ceramic reliefs come from the sculptor Fritz Theilmann , who also created the one in Swinemünder Straße 8 by the Parkhof as well as the rest in the Parkhof.

However, this address is assigned to the building Fördestraße 3 on page 524, which therefore appears inconsistent.

  10. At the tip of the corner property between Mürwiker Strasse and Kelmstrasse, a shatterproof earth shelter was possibly created during the Nazi era , which at least later served as a toilet. An original use as an earth shelter is therefore disputed. See Bunker in Flensburg, page 1 , accessed on: May 17, 2015
