Five before marriage (previously 5 before marriage ) was a German a cappella group from Hanover.
Band history
The band was founded in 2002 by the five music students Christian Thiemig, Tobias Tiedge, Tilmann Weiss, Daniel Eggert and Jörn Marcussen-Wulff. In the next two years the band sang mostly rock and pop songs at festivals and weddings. In 2004 Jörn Marcussen-Wulff left the band and Eiko Saathoff replaced him as tenor . With this new line-up, Tilmann Weiss and Tobias Tiedge began to write their first songs together. These were first published in 2005 on the self-produced album "Baby, take me LIVE".
In 2006 the band reached 2nd place at the international festival vokal.total in Graz . In the same year she worked with the a cappella group The Real Group in a workshop and took part in the international a cappella week in Hanover.
In 2008, the first studio album was released This is not at all with the corresponding single Dangerous on the record label Coconut Records / Sony BMG. Shortly before the release, bass singer Daniel Eggert left the band and Sascha Rittgerodt took his place. The band's professional career began with Das nicht geht's . Concerts in Germany and other German-speaking countries followed.
On 30 May 2009, the band released their for the city of Hanover wrote anthem Hannover Love . In winter 2009 the Christmas album Christmas with you was released on the label polygamusic. For the 2nd Ecumenical Church Congress in Munich, the band wrote the song " So that you have hope" and described it as the "Church Congress song of hearts".
On May 17th, 2010 the album Das! Now! . Half a year later, five released their first DVD, Das! Now! - Live .
Eiko Saathoff left the band in autumn 2010. In a casting, Martin Jordan prevailed as a new band member.
The studio CD Today a Woman was released in June 2011 . It is Martin Jordan's first CD production with five before marriage. The release concert for the album Tigerbaby took place on February 8, 2013 in the Capitol (Hanover) . Her album Tandem was released in 2016 .
Initially, the band was on a break in early 2019. After Mirko Schelske sang with the a cappella quintet Basta since summer 2019 , the band announced their breakup a little later.
