The Real Group is an a cappella quintet founded in Stockholm in 1984 , named in honor of the Real Book jazz standards collection . The formation is one of Sweden's most successful and internationally best known music groups.

The members of the ensemble are:

  • Emma Nilsdotter (soprano) (* 1976)
  • Lisa Östergren
  • Anders Edenroth (Altus) (* 1963)
  • Anton Forsberg (baritone)
  • Jānis Strazdiņš (bass)

Katarina Henryson left the ensemble on July 9, 2016. Lisa Östergren took over the alto part. From this point on, Anders Edenroth is the last remaining member of the original line-up.

The Real Group's repertoire is broad, it includes different styles from folk to swing and pop to classical . At first they mainly sang jazz standards, later Beatles numbers , then more and more of their own compositions (especially by Anders Edenroth).

After 22 years, Margareta Bengtson left the ensemble in December 2006. Her first solo project “I'm Old Fashioned” appeared in October 2006. Johanna Nyström took over the soprano for about two years. She has been a "permanent" surrogate woman for many years. Since 2008 the ensemble has had a new soprano in Emma Nilsdotter.

Peder Karlsson left the quintet at the end of 2009. In honor of his birthday, however, a concert took place in Stockholm on October 24, 2010, in which all previous members as well as the sextet Rajaton from Finland took part. In 2013, The Real Group and Rajaton first appeared as an ensemble under the name Leveleleven .

Anders Jalkéus has not been there since January 2016.

The concert on July 9, 2016 in Grafenegg (Austria) was the last for Katarina Henryson, who thus left the ensemble.

Anton Forsberg has been singing baritone since January 2020, replacing Morten Vinther, who has been the baritone of The Real Group since 2010.
