Guntis Džeriņš (born February 17, 1985 in Madona , Latvian SSR ) is a Latvian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HK Zemgale in the Latvian ice hockey league since 2010 . His brother Andris is also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Guntis Džeriņš began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of HK Prizma Riga , for whose first team he was active from 2000 to 2003 in the Latvian Ice Hockey League and Division B of the East European Hockey League . He was also used in the 2002/03 season for HK Vilki Riga in the Latvian ice hockey league . The winger then moved to HK Riga 2000 , with whom he won the championship three times in three years . During this period he was on the ice for Riga 2000 in parallel in the Belarusian extra league.

Džeri Dš spent the 2006/07 season at SK Riga 20 in Latvia. He then accepted the contract offer from MHC Martin , for whom he played in the Slovakian extra league from 2007 to 2009 . He scored 27 goals in 111 games and gave 34 assists. At the European level, the Latvian national player won the IIHF Continental Cup with MHC Martin in the 2008/09 season . He missed the following season completely due to injury.

For the 2010/11 season he received a trial contract with the newly founded Slovakian club HC Lev Poprad from the Continental Hockey League , which did not start playing. He also took part in the Dinamo Riga training camp , but was not signed. He started the 2010/11 season at HK Zemgale .

International

For Latvia , Džeriņš took part in the junior division in the U18 Junior B World Championships in 2002 and 2003 , and the U20 Junior B World Championships in 2004 and 2005 . He was also in his country's squad at the A-World Championships in 2007 and 2009 , as well as qualifying for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver .
