Fear god Erhard Zwar (born July 26, 1898 in Kötzschenbroda , † December 27, 1977 in Radebeul ) was a Saxon painter. His portraits, cityscapes and landscapes are sometimes reminiscent of late Romantic painting .

Life

Before 1916 he worked as a farm and construction worker in Radebeul. From 1916 to 1918 he was a soldier in the First World War in Belgium and France; Drawings, watercolors and first oil paintings emerge.

He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden from 1926 to 1932 . Lecturers were Richard Müller , H. Dittrich, Georg Lührig and Robert Sterl . Multiple master students. In 1933 he was awarded the "City Prize of Dresden".

Study trips (Riesengebirge, Hohe Tauern, Lausitz) in the 1950s and 1960s, which were reflected in his work in many ways. Lifelong residence in his simple, agricultural property with several conversions and extensions in Rietzschkegrund 25 (demolished in 1994) in Radebeul; Around 1960 a simple studio building was also built there. In addition to his artistic work, he always ran a small farm for natural self-sufficiency as well as commercial horticulture (fruit and vegetables).

As a freelance artist, Zwar painted there in a studio that was open to the public at all times until his death.

His grave is in the Johannesfriedhof in Radebeul- Zitzschewig .

The artistic estate (well over 100 works) has been in the care of the State Art Fund of Saxony since the death of his widow.

Several pictures belong to the inventory of the Freital Municipal Art Collection.
