Prince Friedrich Albrecht monument
The Prince Friedrich Albrecht Monument is a memorial to Prince Friedrich Albrecht von Anhalt-Bernburg in the district of Mägdesprung belonging to the town of Harzgerode in Saxony-Anhalt .
location
It is located at a central point on the county road in Mägdesprung, directly at the confluence of the road leading to Selkemühle along the Selke valley and is listed as a monument in the local register of monuments.
Design and history
The monument was erected in 1812 by Duke Alexius Friedrich Christian von Anhalt-Bernburg for his father Friedrich Albrecht von Anhalt-Bernburg. The design came from Bergrat Schlüter and was based on a monument built in the Silesian village of Ullersdorf . The monument, designed in the style of early classicism , was made in the Mägdesprung ironworks . A slender, iron obelisk needle rises on a curved substructure made of vertical slabs of slate.
In 1974 the obelisk, which was in danger of collapsing, had to be dismantled, after which the individual parts disappeared. On the initiative of the "Eisenhüttenverein Mägdesprung Carl Bischof eV", a new construction was carried out with funding and own funds, which was inaugurated on August 18, 2012 and unveiled by Prince Eduard von Anhalt.
