The Fürth Miniature Worlds are a permanent exhibition in Fürth in the Odenwald . According to its own information, it is one of the largest miniature worlds in Germany. The exhibition has 2300 m² of hall space, 1200 m² of layout space, 16 kilometers of tracks and over 500 trains.

history

In January 2008 the systems of the Harz model railway center were acquired. In April and May of the same year, some of these systems were transported to Fürth, while the rest were sold. After that, extensive expansion work was carried out on the systems. Finally, the exhibition opened in May 2009. In the summer of 2011, the decision was finally made to enlarge the facility by purchasing, demolishing and building a new tennis hall. The move into this hall took place in December 2012, until the final move into the new location, the exhibition could be viewed under the name of the Odenwald Model Railway Show . The official opening of the Modellbahnwelt Odenwald took place in spring 2013.

Since October 10, 2017, work has been carried out on a new area that includes a large shadow station. The basis of this new area are exhibition parts of the former "LOXX am Alex - Miniature Worlds Berlin". The "Wurzbach" and "Mosel Bullay" systems are integrated into this new area. This started to no longer present stand-alone systems, but tours and themed areas. In the summer of 2019, a replica of the Dresden train station was taken over by the ProSport24 association in Berlin, which will be integrated into the new area.

In 2020 the Odenwald model railway world was renamed Fürth Miniature Worlds.

Plant areas

From the beginning, the system "From the coast to the Alps" was shown, which shows the different regions of Germany. Then the " Dürnstein " and "Sherman-Hill" systems were added. These show Austria and the USA. The "BVZ - Brig - Visp - Zermatt " facility followed in June 2011.

The " Ruhrgebiet " layout was taken over from the Oberhausen model railway world . There are also the "Eselsbrück'sche Eisenbahn", "On the Franconian Railway" and "World-size miniature fair in HO gauge".

The Ruhr area plant shows the path from "ore to steel" in the 1960s on a scale of 1:87 over an area of around 420 square meters. Starting with the ore delivery in the Duisburg port, ending with the removal of the steel products in Dortmund. In the plant sections between the harbors, visitors can view contemporary scenes of everyday life over a plant length of over 150 meters, models of steel production and the Oberhausen main train station and the Zollverein colliery .
