It should not be confused with the district association of the same name founded in 1957 in the Zurich district of Witikon .

history

The club was founded in 1907 by football-loving apprentices and students who lived in the quarters of Hottingen, Hirslanden and Riesbach around the Neumünster church , which also gave the club its name. The club quickly developed quite successfully. Member of the Swiss Football Association (SFV) since 1909, the team finished the 1915/16 season in Serie B in first place. After the association initially refused admission to the top division, Serie A, despite the sporting success, the time had come a year later. After winning the B-Series again, the promotion to the 1917/18 season , which could be finished in the regional group East of the Serie A on the good fourth place in the table, took place. After five seasons in the top league, after a Barrage lost to FC Lugano at the end of the 1921/2 season, relegation to Serie B. There the team continued to play with some success, but failed in promotion games against the in 1923 and 1925 SC Veltheim from Winterthur and Brühl St. Gallen . In the course of urban growth, the club soon lost its traditional soccer field on the Sonnenberg. Having become homeless and faced with financial problems, the association was forced to dissolve in 1930.
